Adoption Process:
At this time, all pet visitation is by appointment only, during normal business hours, once you have an approved application. We often adopt pets out before they even make it to our website.  If you are call the shelter, we can give you an updated shelter list.

Once you fill out a complete adoption application, we will contact. you to set up a time to visit.  You will often hear from us as soon as 24 hours after you submit. your application.   The application is very straight-forward.  If you rent your home, we will need landlord approval and/or a copy of your rental agreement before we approve your application.  Also, the pets in your home must be up to date on their shots, flea/tick preventative and HW preventative (dogs) and FeLV/FIV negative (cats) unless you are adopting a cat with this condition.  All applications will be purged after 90 days.

Once you schedule your appointment, we encourage you to bring other family members, including your other pets, to meet your new potential furry friend.
When you make an appointment, please just let us know who you plan to bring with you to your visit, so we can safely accommodate everyone in your family!  Please don't forget to bring in a collar and leash, and a suitable pet carrier to bring your pet home in.  We do offer collars and leashes for sale, but we do not offer carriers at this time.

After you have been won over by one of our amazing pets, completing your adoption is easy.  We ask for a copy of your Drivers License of State ID. We will give you the pets medical history and any information we have.  Medical history includes a rabies certificate, Spay/Neuter Certificate, Updated shot records, Microchip number and any other information that we may have.  After you adopt, we will give you a "Healthy Start" Certificate from our vet, VCA Choptank, that allows you to bring your pet in for a free wellness exam.

We love when you share photos and updated stories about your pet.  Feel free to email them or share on our Facebook page!
