Ranger's Courageous Journey
Meet Ranger; a 12 week old Belgian Malinois rescued by BAR from Vance County, North Carolina. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic which impacted daily operations at the shelter, Ranger, along with other shelter dogs, was temporarily placed in foster care, and in turn, quickly adopted by the individual. But Ranger’s life took a negative turn when he became a “gift” to the adopter’s son, who was not familiar with or inclined to properly care for a pet. Ranger spent his days confined to a crate without any socialization. Ranger became fearful and developed an aggressive personality.
Thankfully, Ranger was returned to Baywater Animal Rescue. Ranger was a mess. His fateful environment caused Ranger to become highly aggressive and untrusting of anyone, including our shelter technicians, who endured numerous bites. Ranger scared away every potential adopter, and we knew that something had to be done to save him.
After a widespread search, Show Me Your Dog Training in Baltimore, known for their work with hard-to-place dogs, was contacted and agreed to provide 10 weeks’ training at a significant discount to the shelter, provided we would ultimately find the right adoptive person or family to provide a happy home.
This is where we need your help. Ranger's training, although offered at a discount, is still overwhelming for our rescue. We are not state, county or federally funded. Your help is needed NOW to help dogs like Ranger overcome extreme obstacles such as abuse, so that they may become healthy, happy family members. Please consider a monetary donation to help offset the cost of Ranger's Training.
